چکیده

We study the parameterized complexity of the following problem: is it possible to make a given graph r-regular by applying at most k elementary editing operations; the operations are vertex deletion, edge deletion, and edge addition. We also consider more general annotated variants of this problem, where vertices and edges are assigned an integer cost and each vertex v has assigned its own desired degree δ(v) ∈ {0, . . . , r}. We show that both problems are fixed-parameter tractable when parameterized by (k, r), butW [1]-hard when parameterized by k alone. These results extend our earlier results on problems that are defined similarly but where edge addition is not available. We also show that if edge addition and/or deletion are the only available operations, then the problems are solvable in polynomial time. This completes the classification for all combinations of the three considered editing operations.

Editing to a Graph of Given Degrees

We consider the Editing to a Graph of Given Degrees problem that asks for a graph G, non-negative integers d, k and a function δ : V (G) → {1, . . . , d}, whether it is possible to obtain a graph G from G such that the degree of v is δ(v) for any vertex v by at most k vertex or edge deletions or edge additions. We construct an FPT-algorithm for Editing to a Graph of Given Degrees parameterized ...

Editing to a Connected Graph of Given Degrees

The aim of edge editing or modification problems is to change a given graph by adding and deleting of a small number of edges in order to satisfy a certain property. We consider the Edge Editing to a Connected Graph of Given Degrees problem that for a given graph G, non-negative integers d, k and a function δ : V (G) → {1, . . . , d}, asks whether it is possible to obtain a connected graph G′ f...

The parameterized complexity of degree constrained editing problems

Luke Mathieson – The Parameterized Complexity of Degree Constrained Editing Problems This thesis examines degree constrained editing problems within the framework of parameterized complexity. A degree constrained editing problem takes as input a graph and a set of constraints and asks whether the graph can be altered in at most k editing steps such that the degrees of the remaining vertices are...

Graph Editing to a Given Degree Sequence

We investigate the parameterized complexity of the graph editing problem called Editing to a Graph with a Given Degree Sequence, where the aim is to obtain a graph with a given degree sequence σ by at most k vertex or edge deletions and edge additions. We show that the problem is W[1]-hard when parameterized by k for any combination of the allowed editing operations. From the positive side, we ...

Graph Editing to a Given Neighbourhood Degree List is Fixed-Parameter Tractable

Graph editing problems have a long history and have been widely studied [35, 53] , with applications in biochemistry [23] and complex network analysis [5]. They generally ask whether an input graph can be modified by inserting and deleting vertices and edges to a graph with the desired property [5, 22]. We consider the problem Graph-Editto-NDL (GEN) where the goal is to modify to a graph with a...
